Timeless

Original: real-life.
Romance. Drabble.

---

The room is dark and quiet (except for faint songs from your iTunes mellow mix) as you lay on your bed with him. You shift (more for the sake of just moving than getting more comfortable) and then still yourself; you can't hear the music over the sound of your rustling. Your head is on his chest, over his heart, his arms wrapped around you, your legs entangled with his. You are so close to him and though you want more, more, more, it is somehow enough; you can be content with this (for now). The song ends, and you move while you have the chance. His beard (although you can't quite call it that) scratches your cheek a little, and you like it. You press a soft kiss on his jaw, then his lips, before you settle against his chest again. You listen to him breathe and when his breathing matches yours, you smile and revel in it, wondering if he noticed too. When your breathing becomes your own again, you are inordinately disappointed, but you smile again when he starts to play with your hair (he took down your ponytail earlier). "This feels so timeless," he whispers, and you hold him a little tighter (you agree). If only you could ignore the lab report due tomorrow you have yet to write (his isn't done either), the exam later this week you haven't studied for, the rest of the semester--the rest of college, for that matter. Your only wish is to stay with him, in this moment, with these feelings, for the rest of your life. (And what's beautiful is this: that is his wish too.)
